How to enter

Art and writing submissions are due in by Friday, 28 September.

Follow these 4 steps

  1. Click here to Register for the 2018 Schools Reconciliation Challenge or for further information email schools@nswreconciliation.org.au
  2. Start with Explore 2018 theme and follow the session guides to inform your lessons about reconciliation and this year’s theme Our Voices, Our Future.
  3. Then do the activities in Create Art and/or Create Writing. Use these lessons to assist and inspire students to develop original artworks or stories which reflect their ideas about reconciliation and the theme Our Voices, Our Future.
  4. Submit the artworks and stories by 28 September 2018. Each entry must have a completed entry form attached.

Submitting your art and writing entries

Submit your entries online and then deliver or post the originals to us for viewing by our judging panel. All art and writing entries must include the relevant entry form. Ensure that all the information is completed by both teacher and student(s).

Once you have completed your online submission download and print out your form and attach it to your hard copy entry that you will be delivering or mailing to us.

We love to know the names of the wonderful artists and writers whose works we receive! So please make sure that this information is clearly indicated on your art and writing masterpieces as well as on your entry form.

Entry requirements

  • Artworks: 2D or digital, maximum size of A1. Must be accompanied by an Artist Statement
  • Writing: maximum 500 words, original creative writing that explore the theme. Must be accompanied by a Writer Reflection.

Winners

  • Winners will be announced in October 2018.
  • Selected artists and writers will be sponsored to travel to Sydney for the Exhibition Launch.
  • Selected works will be exhibited in Sydney, Canberra and  regional locations in NSW and the ACT over 2018-19.

 

Remember all entries must:

  • reflect the theme Our Voices, Our Future and reconciliation more broadly
  • be original creative pieces
  • have an Entry Form attached
  • include an Artist Statement or Writer Reflection (see Entry Form)
  • be submitted by or post-dated 28 September 2018.

Entries that do not comply to ALL of the above conditions will be excluded from the SRC competition judging.

NSW schools 

  • All art and writing entries from schools in NSW are to be delivered or posted to the NSW Reconciliation Council office which is located at Level 1, 93 Norton Street, Leichhardt NSW 2040.

ACT schools 

  • For schools in the ACT our partners at Red Cross have kindly offered to receive art and writing entries from ACT schools and deliver them to the NSW Reconciliation Council free of charge.
  • Art and writing entries from schools in the ACT may be dropped off at Level 1 Red Cross House, 3 Dann Place, Garran on or before the closing date of 6pm on Friday, 28 September.
  • Alternatively, ACT art and writing entries may also be directly delivered or posted to the NSW Reconciliation Council office which is located at Level 1, 93 Norton Street, Leichhardt NSW 2040.

This Kit was developed in consultation with the Board of Studies Teaching and Educational Standards NSW (BOSTES) to ensure that the competition meets NSW curriculum outcomes for Stages 3 & 4.
