Cool Burning

In the Cool Burning unit, students will study the Aboriginal land management strategy of burning off dangerous fuel loads in Australia’s tropical savanna regions. Through the intersection of traditional Aboriginal fire practices and contemporary fire management methods informed by ecological science, cool burning reduces fire hazards in Australia.

Students will learn about First Nations fire management practices, climate change and how Indigenous knowledges can support us in restoring Country and caring for it for generations to come.
