By completing and submitting the 2024 Schools Reconciliation Challenge entry form, each participant agrees to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

Eligibility

1. To participate in the Schools Reconciliation Challenge, students must currently be enrolled in Years 3–10 at a primary or secondary school in NSW or the ACT or be the equivalent age of a Year 3–10 student. Students may participate independently or as part of a class project.
2. Entries must be entirely the work of the entrant and must never have been published, self-published, featured on any website or public online forum, broadcast, nor have been entered or won a prize in any other competition.
3. A completed entry form and Artist’s Statement or Writer’s Reflection must accompany the document or artwork to indicate agreement to these terms and conditions and to be eligible for entry.
4. The entries must reflect the 2025 theme Feeding Connection: Learning from Country in the context of reconciliation.
5. Entries must meet the competition requirements and formats, outlined in ‘size and material of works’ below.
6. No corrections can be made after the entry is received by Reconciliation NSW.
7. All entries must be received by Friday 12 September 2025.
8. Original artworks should not be sent to Reconciliation NSW offices. Schools should keep all original artworks and writing.

Art entries

1. The file name of digital entries must be School_Title of the artwork_Students Name (e.g. BNPS_My Country_Mary Smith.pdf)
2. Upload either a digital photograph or scanned version of the artwork. Preferred file types are .jpg, .gif, or .bmp.
3. Please have the artworks scanned/photographed in highest quality so if chosen they can be part of the exhibition.
4. Original artworks should be retained by the school. No physical artworks should be sent to the Reconciliation NSW offices.
5. Please ensure digital images of artworks are clear and easy for judges to view. (No images of backgrounds or students should be included in the photograph).

Writing entries

1. The file name of digital entries must be School_Title of the artwork_Students Name (e.g. BNPS_My Country_Mary Smith.pdf)
2. Entries for the writing competition cannot exceed 500 words.
3. Please ensure written entries are submitted in PDF or Word format with the file name reflecting the title of the work.

Copyright

By submitting an entry into the competition, the nominated author/artists:

1. Agree to grant royalty-free, worldwide, nonexclusive, license to reproduce and publish work in all media of expression now known or later developed and in all languages in the nominated artwork and writing pieces to Reconciliation NSW without reservation including, but not limited to, all intellectual property rights to reproduce and publish the nominated entry on Reconciliation NSW website and to change and/or reproduce any part of the nominated artwork or written piece in relation to other promotional activities;
2. Agree that Reconciliation NSW may publish on the Reconciliation NSW website and in relation to other promotional activities, any personal information provided by the nominated artist/writer in connection with their entry including, but not limited to, the nominated artist/writer’s name, age, community and state/territory of residence; and warrants that there is no cultural or religious reason or any other impediment that prevents the nominated artwork or written piece from being exhibited, published or reproduced.

Judging

All entries will be viewed and judged by a subcommittee of Reconciliation NSW. The decision of the judges will be final and absolute. No correspondence concerning decisions will be entered into.
