To begin with collectively, my artwork is depicted as a moment of reconciliation with the ongoing culture of the Indigenous peoples of Australia who are still relatively misunderstood by the uses of traditional medicines and practices used by the native shrubbery. Objectively, towards my point of view, it symbolises the unifying of distant cultures and persons used to correlate as the careful strokes of watercolour combined with the pronounced outlines making it work well as one constructive artwork. To my mind, the detailed outlines of the Coolamon create a more realistic example of the utensils used to collect bush tucker, berries, medicinal plants etc. I understand that the importance of natural medicines are what kept the Indigenous going for tens of thousands of years.

Reconciliation means…

Reconciliation means to me as a way of acknowledging the people who were before us and showing respect for what they had to do for this country for thousands of years.
