I was inspired to create this artwork whilst using watercolour pencils. I wanted to emphasise connection. In my artwork, I placed Australia as the centre piece in order to represent it as the mother country that we all belong to. From there, I decided to sketch from a birds eye angle to visualise how we all connect to one another. I captured this moment by drawing myself in the middle and using various lines to connect myself to the land, rivers and water that surrounds me.

Reconciliation means…

Reconciliation means to reflect on what happened in the past, understand
the history, learn from it and make sure that it never happens again. In order
to reconcile, we must celebrate Indigenous culture and thank First Nations
peoples for looking after Country. Reconciliation is about moving on together
by building positive relationships and educating all communities.
