“A Flame Under Stars” reflects the Dreamtime story of how the Sun was made and uses the elements of fire and darkness as symbols to be able to relate to the theme “under one sky.” I have used the campfire as a symbol to represent the gathering of traditions that would be shared. My artwork relates to reconciliation as it allows for newer generations to show respect to and appreciate the elder generations and the stories passed down throughout time.

Reconciliation means…

The acknowledgement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as Australia’s First Peoples as well as the unity and respect held between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians allowing for all Australians to have a deeper understanding of history and culture.
