Our artwork shows the beauty and diversity of Nature and represents harmony and balance. The variety of plants in our artwork symbolises the diversity of traditions, languages and peoples of Australia living in harmony. It represents the deep understanding and connection to Country that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders have developed over tens of thousands of years caring for the Land and making sure that there was harmony in the natural world. Their knowledge, skills and respectful approach to managing the Land meant that the different species were cared for and allowed to grow in a balanced way without causing permanent damage. They passed this knowledge on through centuries and generations to continue the traditions that care for Peoples and Country. They see the beauty of the Land and know it is precious and needs taking care of.

Reconciliation means …understanding each other and showing respect for one another, now and in the future, and respecting each other’s histories and cultures. It means living side by side in harmony, caring for each other and for the Land. It means finding a balance where everyone is equal and everyone is treated fairly.
