Oxley Park Public School

This is our poster that we have created for reconciliation, Caring for Country. We created this art piece to share our passion for both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. As well as our excitement and determination to demonstrate how we care for our country. The art work was created with the inspiration of our growing up and family traditions that have been handed down. We combined different types of Indigenous art pieces that express our beliefs and communicate them through the use of different colours, objects and one focus quote. The Quote “The Land Is Our Identity, We Learn From Our Elders, We Share With Our Friends, We All Care Together, We Love The Land” was collaboratively generated and is displayed as an inspiration to ourselves and to the audience. This quote reminds everyone that we are the custodians of the land and together we can create a caring country. We have included Earth like objects such as sticks, dirt and leaves to express where our culture started allowing our elders and prior family ancestors to become teachers of caring for our Country and past this down to the younger generations in the present and in the future!

Reconciliation means …the joining of other cultures and Aboriginal culture to share our stories, traditions and life experiences. To contribute to making Australia a friendly place with great relationships between Indigenous culture and other Australians.
